Summary

After The End is a Crusader Kings mod, originally for CK2, set in a post-apocalyptic America. A CK3 version of the mod, acting as a sequel to the CK2 version is currently still being developed, this is the version I’m a part of.

About The Mod

  • Completely new setting with it’s own map of post-apocalyptic America. 
  • New religions, cultures, governments, decisions, and more!
  • New modded mechanics for governments and religions.

Project Responsibilities

  • Creating the Zetanology decision and it’s events.
  • Mapping the baronies, counties, & duchies, for Oregon, Washington, Arizona, & New Mexico.
  • Mapping the baronies for, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, & Florida.
  • Creating the initial map setup and it’s characters for Cascadia,
  • Creating the religious setup for Arizona & New Mexico.

Mapping, Religion, & defacto setup.

Mapping

I came onto the project mostly helping with the mapping of the game, baronies, counties, duchies, and kingdoms needed to be mapped and named. I worked on the Pacific North-West (Washington state, Oregon, Vancouver area). New Mexico & Arizona, & the deep South (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia)

  • I mapped individual baronies for the mentioned regions, staying consistent with the game and the rest of the map, keeping local boundaries in mind.
  • I set up the duchies for Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and New Mexico, forming them based on the current region and it’s politics, and making sure that they stay balanced.
  • Iterated on these regions based on feedback and what the project required, for example we had to reduce the density of provinces so baronies were fully reworked.

Zetanology Religion

For religion I worked on the Zetanology religion, based on the American trend of UFO sightings , the religion is rooted in new-age thinking and theology. I wrote the initial draft and did any subsequent work on the religion but worked together with the authors of the other space themed religions in the game to make sure it fit with the mod’s IP and style. I improved the religion several times and worked on all it’s individual parts. 

  • Religion has all the CK3 requirements worked out; gods, tenets, holy sites, etc.
  • Zetanology has 19 unique events with a total of 107 individual options within these events.
  • Religion has been worked into the overall setting of the mod.

Defacto Setup

I worked on the defacto setup for the coastal region (everything West of the Cascades) of Oregon & Washington, and on the religious setup for New Mexico & Arizona. The setup was based on lore from the previous mod instalment I had to keep in mind, and balancing the scenario with the new province density and mechanics in CK3. 

For Arizona & New Mexico I worked on the religious setup in order to work Zetanology in with the other religions already present in the area.

  • Designed the defacto setup for Cascadia, assigned all the titles, created the characters and their familial ties.
  • Managing the setup, making sure it follows previously established lore, and stays balanced.
