Hello, I’m Jip Haas, a level designer nearing two years in the games industry now. check out some of my personal and professional level design projects below, and send me a message!

My skillset includes, researching, planning levels, blocking out levels, playtesting, iterating, scripting level design scenarios, working and iterating on game mechanics, game concepting. I like the process.

I enjoy seeing a level evolve over time the most, seeing it change based on iteration. Whenever I make a blockout I can’t help but wonder what it will look like after a few rounds of playtesting.

Arizona Sunshine 2

Level Design | Scripting | Unity

Worked as a level designer, worked on most levels in some form, designing and scripting narrative beats, combat encounters, puzzles. Iterating based on feedback and playtests. Working with environment artists to dress up the levels while maintaining gameplay.

|Responsibilities: Shaped a level in blockout following the intended experience, and worked with artists to bring it to life while maintaining the design. This includes, blockout,
scripting, playtesting, and iteration. All while working
with the other disciplines of the team to bring it together. Scripting designing for other levels; combat encounters,
narrative beats, and interactive sections.
Coming up with smart solutions to design problems,
trying to mitigate issues where possible.

Alien Removal Division

A.R.D. is a fast-paced single player fps where the player fights aliens and completes movement challenges while making their way through area 51.

|Responsibilities:  Creating the final movement encounter, Creating the final combat 4 encounter, Set dressing various sections of the game, Playtesting.

As part of my role as a level designer I also managed a team of 5 level designer, planned the game’s overall experience, set up level design rules and guidelines, and set the level’s requirements and constraints.

Osakabe

Level Design | Blueprint Scripting | Stealth Horror

Osakabe is a stealth horror game where the player tries to make their way through a Japanese castle while avoiding the Osakabe monster.

Unreal Tournament 4 - FR-Avast

Level Design | Multiplayer Combat Design | Rapid Iteration | Competitive Multiplayer Shooter

This level was made for the Unreal Tournament  4 Blitz gamemode where an attacking team of 5 players tries to take a flag from one side of the level to the other while defending players try to prevent them from doing so.

Level Design Jam

This level was made for the Steve Lee Half-Life 2 map jam in 2022. The theme for the jam was; Systemic AI Combat, which is why it recurs multiple times throughout the level.

Snail Cousine was made as a game jam project for the Game Jobs Live Fall Game Parade 2021 with the theme; Leave Something Behind. The game was made in 3 days together with fellow students from BUAS.

A World Without Rome

A modding passion project that was made for a multiplayer game. The mod was based on a conversion from CK3 and I made all the mission, ideas, and formable decisions.
